Neil Budde was named in February as the founding CEO of the Philadelphia Public Interest Information Network, a collaborative organization intended to help increase the amount and quality of news and information in the Greater Philadelphia region. It is funded through a $2.4 million grant to the Temple University School of Communications and Theater from the William Penn Foundation.

Budde is developing a strategic plan for the non-profit, which is expected to produce its own journalism while offering resources to other media outlets in the city.¬† His efforts are being assisted by Temple’s Center for Public Interest Journalism.
