National Press Club Members

Are you a member of the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.?  If you are you already have reciprocal membership privileges with the P&P. Just let the doorman know you are an NPC member, or show your card, and you are welcome!

Non-Members/ General Public

Pen & Pencil is a private club, which means our bar and events are not open to the general public. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t come as a visitor. The easiest way to do this is to be accompanied by someone who is ALREADY a member in good standing.

Guests of Outside Groups

Certain events, especially when hosted by outside groups, are of course open to members and attendees of those groups. This also extends to P&P events with special hosts, speakers or performers – all of whom may invite outside guests (within a reasonable number).

If you are thinking about becoming a member, and want to come to the club to see it and apply, the best way to do this is to ALSO come with someone who is already a member. See our Membership page for more details.
