Philadelphia is an easy city to love yet a difficult city to know. Its ways and its spaces, even those long thought familiar, are often closely guarded secrets – even those lying in plain sight.

Writers Nathaniel Popkin and Peter Woodall, the creators (along with Bradley Maule) of the Hidden City Festival and the website Hidden City Daily,  have collaborated with photographer Joseph E.B. Elliott to produce a masterful book that takes you to those secret places hiding in plain sight, “Philadelphia: Finding the Hidden City.”

On Feb. 28, Inga Saffron, The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Pulitzer Prize-winning architecture critic, will lead a conversation with Popkin and Woodall. Students of the city’s built environment and its history will not want to miss this.

This event is open to the public, but tickets will be required to enter. Tickets are $5 for the general public and free for Pen & Pencil Club members. Members should use the discount code contained in the Notes newsletter for this event to get their free tickets.
