As outgoing as he was prolific, journalist/essayist/poet Christopher Morley also enjoyed pipe smoking: his first collection of essays, published in 1920, is titled Pipefuls. And once each month, a group of equally gregarious people gather together to enjoy a few pipefuls at the Christopher Morley Pipe Club, one of the P&P's longest-running affinity groups. This month's meeting of the Pipe Club takes place on Tuesday, October 14, at 7 p.m. There's no need to register: just bring yourself, a pipe, and your favorite tobacco. No pipe? No problem: They welcome non-pipe-smokers (or even non-smokers) as well.
