About this event

The city's oldest bar teams up with the nation's oldest continuously operating press club to celebrate a new book about McGillin's!

Hear tales of yesteryear, ghost stories, love stories, and modern day secrets revealed over beers and cheers. Chris Mullins, co-owner of the family-owned bar, and Irene Levy Baker, author of newly-published “Cheers to McGillin’s: Philly’s Oldest Bar,” will tell stories about the bar and how it survived the Civil War, two world wars, two pandemics, a fire, and even Prohibition. And reveal a newly-discovered link to the Union League and historic photos from the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and century old scrapbooks. The book includes a forward by Edward G. Rendell.

This event is free and open to the public.
