About this event
As a public defender in Montgomery County, Keisha Hudson was part of a leadership team that was fired for pushing reforms. Since 2021, she's been chief of Philadelphia's public defender's office, navigating everything from ICE arresting her clients at the Philadelphia courthouse to mayor's creation of a controversial "wellness court" targeting homeless people in Kensington. Her office has exposed police misconduct, including the secret use of city surveillance cameras by narcotics officers, who were then caught lying about their arrests. She'll participate in a candid off-the-record conversation about the state of the criminal justice system, how ICE enforcement is changing that work, and the pros and cons of a system reshaped by DA Larry Krasner's reforms.
