For notebook, paper planner, bullet journal, and diary enthusiasts--or those who want to become one! Bring your tips, tricks, and blank notebooks. An evening at the Pen & Pencil Club dedicated to that reliable, semi-endangered sidekick of reporters and poets, scriveners and scribes. We‘ll talk about the best systems for organizing a notebook and taking notes, share our favorite makes and models, and host a notebook swap (trade your unloved notebook for something else). This event is free and open to the public. Registration is recommended but not required (it helps us get a sense of who‘s coming!). Sponsored by Trophy Bikes.

Learn about the illustrious history of commonplace books, an ancient form of journaling, and start your own. Once upon a time, every respectable (and most of the disreputable ones) writer kept a Commonplace Book; in it, they wrote down facts and fancies from their reading, song lyrics, news articles and even overheard conversations as they encountered them in their daily lives. While it’s now possible to press SAVE on everything, the effort of writing it down on paper just hits different. Bring your commonplace book if you already have one or a blank notebook if you don‘t and find inspiration in those kept by others. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is recommended but not required (it helps us get a sense of who‘s coming!). Sponsored by Trophy Bikes.

You don‘t need to be on vacation to send a postcard! At this event, we‘ll browse and learn the art of writing one. Once, Americans sent postcards by the billions; now, in the twilight of paper mail delivery, this compact medium is taking on a new charm. Learn a bit about the “World’s First Social Network” (as author Lydia Pyne calls postal cards), and be surprised all over again (or for the first time) at the process of putting a few words on the back of a picture. Michael McGettigan, founder of the profit-phobic Hasty Post Card Co, will offer a quick class, “Ten Steps to a Pretty Good Post Card." We’ll have postcards, stamps, and lend you a pen if need be! This event is free and open to the public. Registration is recommended but not required (it helps us get a sense of who‘s coming!). Sponsored by Trophy Bikes.
