Philly, it's been a while — like, three years since this local chapter of the Online News Association has hosted its own in-person event. Let's change that.

Join ONA Philly for a casual happy hour on Wednesday, June 7, to meet other digital journalists and learn more about the organization. We'll discuss: What kind of programming do you want to see from a meetup group focused entirely on professional development and community building for local digital journalists?

In pre-pandemic years, ONA Philly hosted lightning talks on community engagement; a panel on fighting misinformation; many happy hours; an open discussion on pay in the industry; a tour of a local typewriter shop; a community-focused newsroom crawl; group visits to Phillies games; and more. In 2023, we want to get back to that, so come with ideas about how ONA Philly can serve you this year. If you're new to the region (or journalism) since the pandemic started, we especially want to meet you.

We'll also be joined by esteemed members of ONA's board of directors, who will share what the national org can offer — and what to expect from the ONA23 conference, held in person this August in our own Philadelphia. Bonus: Attendees will receive a discount code to register for the conference!
